Props, CC 764

"Charlie Charlie 764 you are cleared for take off"  Well as you can see I've got the plane done, you might remember me saying in another post how I'd not built one of these things since I was a kid & that's a long time ago, hopefully it will be just as long again.

I never like fiddly things as tbh I'm a bit all thumbs & this kit had fiddly things & worse so unnecessary fiddly things, but having said all that now that it's finished I'm more then happy with it.  

 I didn't bother with all the inside details as I've a different use for them, so I painted over the clear plastic windows so as you can't see inside.

The paint job i just kept very simple as as you know by now dear readers painting is not my thing.

A couple of things

There's  a couple of thing's for you is this post, as none of them would really be worth a post by themselves.

First we'd a  late change of plan in the PA campaign with Dave not been able to make in for the game, this meant I'd to get the Doc to play Cairo Caper  a scenario I didn't plan on playing for a month & didn't have a proper set done up for it.

It was a short but fun little affair with me doing my best with the card's in my hand to stop The Count & his league of minion's.

The Doc had never before won a game of PA so was under a bit more pressure then might have been expected.

Poor visibility or whatever it's called was rolled for on the random events table, very fitting for the league in play.

 I did however manage to take out one of the foul things before the count made off with the major PP much to the Doc's delight giving him his first every PA win.

In other news I made up a few little row's of hedging & below is a few pictures that's a wip if anyone whats to make some up.

You'll see a finished one below.
Last is an unexpected thing I came across in the Euro store & I not sure if they work or not but for 2 euro was worth a try.

It might come down to the setting up of these things & they might work better in a sci-fi were you're going for a different world look.

I cut them about an inch (25mm) high, I'll have to play around with it a bit to see what I can come up with.

Another bunch of stars sign up & an update

I got a couple of deliveries in the last week or so, bring yet more stars to the studio, some of them will have leading roles in the lets call it a following up that's currently in the works.

The above are from Foundry explorer range, Traders & Travellers & all are none combat models, in other words they don't have guns or knives,here's a link where you can see them painted, you'll have to stroll down the page.

Next up are from Northstar African range part of the British South Africa Company & what I really like about these is that you get two of the one person in the set, one standing & the other on horseback.

Even better the rider is removable so if I never glue him on I can remove him & have the man standing beside the horse, neat.

 I think I might have mentioned once or twice about how I like things to be flexible, so this kind of thing is right up my street.

While hard to see in the picture, the model on the right is from the models from Foundry & happens to bare an uncanny resemblance to the one from Northstar.

The idea behind these is for when flying & not flying cool yep ?, some of these half chaps will be going in to the plane I show you a couple of posts back, their from Copplestone Castings.

The update is on the mountainous back drop, as I said in the last post I wasn't happy with how the rockface looked as it was a bit bland.

 So I set about changing it & I think it looks much better now.

The old & the new, what I did was give it a wash using green & brown shade's

Plus a little highlighting, as you can see from the pictures much more interesting with more dept & colour.

On location, the mountainous back drop

The film crew joined up with Connemara Feeney  & headed out to get some shots at the mountainous back drop.

Not counting the inside of the Severed Head this is the biggest piece of terrain I've ever built measuring about 36" (900mm) x 12" (300mm) x 7" (175mm).

This photo really shows what the back drop adds as it give's you a sense  of dept, with Connemara (Connie to her friends) quite clearly at a different level & looking a long way off.

While over all I'm more then happy with how it's turned out, I do feel it could maybe do with a wash & perhaps another dry brushing.

At a close up you can see the rock face looks a bit flat, I'm thinking a green wash followed by a brown wash  might help to pop it, if after that it still not right then I'll give it a dry brushing.

Props, Card Tents

I've had this file PDF or what ever the hell you want to call it for a long time, but been the total master of failure of using a computer I had to get Paddy (who else) to sort things out, any way the file comes from wargame vault http://www.wargamevault.com/product/109596/Field-Tents-Paper-Models

There's 3 different sizes, small one man pup tents above, big one's like the red cross one above

& mid size ones like above, hang on Frank you said there's 3 & we're seen four, right sorry about that the other one above is the same tent as the red cross one, clever isn't it.
Once you know what your doing (Paddy) you can do different thinks with the tents before you print them, you can make a lot of different colours, have window flaps open or closed, add patches or whatever.

One of the little pup tents cut out.

model is 28mm

Just enough room for one man alright but you can adjust the setting before printing if you want it slightly bigger.

First aid, I hope we won't be needing that

Rear view, you'll note the flap is closed.

This is the same tent but in a darker colour & without the red cross's, the flap is open & you can see the window, but sadly I messed up with the picture & it's to dark to see it, sorry.

The two tents together.

This is also the same size but I done it in such away that the door flaps can be open or closed, these tents are more of a brown shade & while it's hard to see in the photo really do look good, I haven't coloured the edge's on this one unlike to other two.

The one beside the red cross one is one of my resin ones.

Here's what I made up, 6 pup tents, 4 mid size tents & 3 big ones.

As some of the pictures above are not bright enough here's one of the mid size tent taken off the TV ready to print.

In the picture above you can see that the flap on one window is but closed on the other, I've also changed the colour to a green.
