Historical re fights.

Over the last couple of months Ger & myself have been playing some of the missions from Taros campaign 1st ed, I'm not sure but I'd bet that the update book is the same as the later IA books where they just give you a mission to play.

To me this new way of doing things is disappointing to be honest as I don't think it creates the same feeling, now I know that historical re fights tend to be unbalanced as it will favour the army that won that battle, but for every down there's an up or two

.

I'll try to explain what I mean, first off you'll probably get to use things you never used before you'll probably won't have the exact model but you'll more then likely have something you can use as a stand in so +1.

You might find the army your using stepping outside of the foc, this might not seem to great but you'd be amazed how different this can make an army feel, think an all ravener & trygon army & you'll get what I mean +2.

It will most likely do as it says on the tin, one of the big things in these battles is how much it will feel like the fluff FW do a great job when they make up the lists for the mission , so you don't drop pod into a horde of orks only to find that the combi-melta would have been better been a combi-flamer.+3

The newer way for doing it just in my mind doesn't work, imaging you just finished reading how we'll just say the marines have beaten the bad guys to take a space port, you then get to the missions part & it's a 2k per side battle, the marine dex is old & the other is an over powered new one.

So instead of the marines taking the space port like in the book, or the other player some how pulling off a most unlikely win & really gaining the bragging rights, you get the the marines getting their a@s handed to them which in no way recreates the feeling of the book.

For me playing a historical re fight is very different to playing a mission as to be honest there is only so many ways you can play mission games & you'll end up playing them with the models you have been what they are.

As for the game we where playing the Tau had to attack an imperial airbase & destroy the planes.of the navy a simple real life event that happens in war instead of capture the most of 3 objects.

For me the real trill will always be taking part in a story & I find I get more into a game that is based on some event the fact that the event never happened has nothing to do with it,I also find that these kind of games get me playing better as I'll try to come up with a tactical plan to win.

At the end of the day historical re fights are not every ones cup of tea but I for one feel that IA books are just not the same without them.
So my tanks to Ger for another enjoyable game that went with history this time with the Tau winning the day,
my thanks to you for dropping in & please return soon as my blog would be a lonely place without you.

How to combi melta's & flarmer's

This time out I'm going to make a couple of combi weapons for marines who by the way will be getting a new codex soon.
So to do this conversion's I need 2 bolters 1 flamer & 1 melta-gun

Starting with the flamer I cut off the fuel tank cut off the mussel & cut off the top piece of barrel, next I cut the mussel off melta & cut the mussel off one bolter & magazine casing off the other, what your left with is in the picture below.

I also cut the half cylinder off the melta-gun but I did so after the picture above was taken so you'll need that as well, now glue the melta mussel & the magazine casing to the what was the flamer like below.

Now for the combi-flamer remove the little ignition part & pear the area where it was so that the mussel off the bolter can be fitted into it.& glue it to the bolter along with the half cylinder from the melta-gun like in the picture below.

Now that wasn't to hard was it ? if you want lto do a combi-plasma here's a link to an earlier post I done on them. http://ifitwasntforone.blogspot.ie/2013/07/how-to-combi-plasma.htm

All 3 guns together & below some pictures of them on Captain Ahab for the Rad Scorpions 6th company.

INQ28 Endgame

As they stepped through the door on to the gantry they could hear voices from down below one a man & the other a women's
I'm telling you  I'm out all this has done is bring more heat on me from the Inquisition & credits are no use to you when those guys get a hold of you.

Your right your failure to shake them off you trail as brought to much heat, perhaps I should just arrest you now & hand you over or just kill you & have done with you.
Don't make threats we both know you can't keep Inquisitor, look around you their are 5 of us & your on your own of, just one word from me & my Arco-flagellant here will rip you to pieces.

Up on the gantry Inquisitor Hendelmann a long with 2 of his own agents & 3 belonging to Inquisitor Trisk (whom he had made a deal with to try to bring this case to a close) decided to split into 2 groups with each group entering the ground level by a different stairway, to try to catch Price & the Rogue trader Maxamillia in a cross fire.

The plan was quickly ruined as one of Trisk man slipped & fell down the stairs alerting those down below that some one had entered the hanger

Knowing that the element of surprise was lost Inquisitor Hendelmann sent his daemon host on a head to try to keep Price & Maxamillia busy so that they wouldn't have time to run to the Valkyrie he could see sitting on the far side of the hanger.

Up on the top of one of the storage contanters one of Maxamillia's henchmen hearing the noise over on the staircase took aim with this long rifle at the space at the bottom of the stairway to get a clear shot at anyone stepping off it.

By this time shooting & shouting had broking out all over the hanger With the now activated arco-flagellent moving to intercept the daemon host while Price took cover behind some large drums. drawing out his webber.

A couple of Trisk man now ran from the stairs to take up cover beside a massive storage tank from where they could return fire at the rifle man on the roof of the container.

With the arco-flagellent & the daemon host fighting one another Price who was under fire from  Hendelmann  & one of his man leaned round the side of the drums to get a shot off but so rushed was the shot it that it hit the two combatant's instead  tangling them both up in it web.

With the Rogue trader unable to draw a clear line on sight on Hendelmann through the combat she move over to where Price was to try to get a better angle.

Apon seen this  Hendelmann made a dash towards them firing as he went to keep their heads down safe in the knowledge that the flagellent was entangled in the wab so unlike to be able to lash out at him.

Trisk men knocked the rifleman from his feet but just when they where going to move to try to get a round the back of of Price &  Maxamillia they came under fire from another of the henchmen who they hadn't noticed before.

Such was the ding in side the hanger it was hard to hear yourself think with bullets fling left right & centre but above all this could be heard the noise of the Valkyrie engines as the pilots got the ship ready for take off.

Although still taped by the webbing the daemon host struck out with some form of psychic blast knocking to the ground unconscious as  Hendelmann stuck out at the still in tangled flagellant with his daemon weapon.

Fallen the thing before turning his attention to the  Rogue trader just as a Kroot came to join her,  Hendelmann knew from experience how nasty these thing could be in combat.

Haven taken care of the two henchmen Trisk man moved in to try help spring the trap, but just before they could get there Maxamillia took to her heels as the Kroot lay ed into Hendelmann.

Knowing that they weren't going to catch up to her one of them shot off a slug from his needle pistol & hitting her & knocking her off her feet but what ever the affect of the toxin on her she jumped back up & then seemed to run even faster as she darted up the ramp of the Valkyrie slamming the button on her way by to close it.

I'm on board with Price she cried out to the pilots get us out of here, but they could see on the hold cam that she was on her own, & called back were not taken off without the Inquisitor lady.

Price at this stage was been held by Stein one of  Hendelmann's guys as Hendelmann himself had gotten badly injured in the fight with the Kroot who seen Trisk men approaching had fled for the Valkyrie after the  Rogue trader.

As she open the door to the cockpit to try to get the pilots to get her out of here (at gun point if necessary) Maxamillia  was brushed aside by the Kroot who attacked the co-pilot hacking off the poor guys lag just below the knee, ok ok cried the pilot I'll get you out of here just call the Kroot off & see to my friend.

Maxamillia had no regrets about leaving some of her man behind but she was sorry not to have been able to take the Acro-flagellant with her as such things where hard to come by & very useful ah well a small price to pay for ones freedom now to get to my ship & get the hell out of Newport Oilin & the Ticon system.

  • That bring to an end our first campaign in INQ28 so my thanks to the players that took part in it Jamie, Paddy, Lenny & Ralph, also my thanks to you the readers I hope you've enjoyed reading about it as much as we've enjoyed playing in it.
