Spies Like Us, Pulp Ally AAR

NICKEL & DIME PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS SPIES LIKE US.
Somewhere in Southern Italy 1942.
Top secrets documents have been stolen from the regional head quarters of the 3rd Reich forces, & although the culprit has been captured & shot for his troubles the document have not been recovered.
Our hero's hooray
Edmond  Simmons  of  British Intelligence who was to receive the documents from the dead man is trying to locate them with the help of the local resistance.
Our bad guys boo
Charged with the recovery of the documents is SS Sturmbannfuher Hessler.
Acting on a tip off The Germans arrive at the small village of Rossa.
At the same moment as Simmons & his aids.
As Germans begin their search their sniper takes to a roof top to cover the main square.
While Simmons & the resistance go about their business without trying to draw attention to themselves.
But the Germans are on high alert.
Its not long until the bullets start flying & the first to fall is the sniper.
While Simmons take a flesh wound.
This has got the villagers  jumpy & as Hessler approaches a local he gets a smack of a broom for his troubles.
Fr Michael  gets talking to the local artist, but mustn't be asking the right question.
Roberto makes his way to the fountain & takes a shot at Hessler,
while Maria is in a shoot out with one of the goons.
A squad question the Blacksmith
& not liking his answers rough him up a bit.
The artist has loss his temper with the good Father & knocked him from his feet.
Things aren't getting any better for Hessler either as the old man continues to beat on him with the broom.
Maria puts an end to the German behind the vegetation.
Hearing the priest cry out Simmons walks over to the artist, perhaps a gun pointed at him might loosen his tongue a bit.
Alright I'll talk he says as the Fr Michael gets back to his feet, two nights ago I noticed a man out the back of my house, that's all I know he tells them.
before going back into his home.
Roberto is covering the gap between the two buildings on the other side of the square, while one of the Germans has gotten behind the wall at the front of the building on his right unseen.
A squad of Germans run through the gap & Roberto opens fire,
but he's out gunned & goes down in a hail of bullets.
Back on his feet the Blacksmith come's up behind the last member of the squad &
given him what for with a blow from his hammer.
The rest of the squad react &
the big Smithy back away claiming he didn't do anything.
Before turning & running off around the building jumping the wall at the front to come up behind a lone German.
Hearing movement behind him, the German turns opening fire before the Blacksmith can swing at him.
Maria, having already laid two of the Germans to rest, is involved in another shoot out.
Sending him the same way as his comrades.
Hessler finally draws his gun & under treat of death the old man stops beating on him & tells him there was some guy around the back of the church a couple of tonight ago that seemed to be up to something.
Maria heads back to search some crates she'd noticed earlier, while Simmons & the priest want to take a look at some sacks that a big dog seems to have taken an interest in as well.
With no fire coming their way the Germans start to make their way across the square.
But Maria isn't done yet.
Simmons gets around by the dog to reach the sacks,
but as Fr Michael tries the same the big dog turns & pounces knocking him from his feet.
Maria & a German with a machine gun exchange fire,
adding another kill to her list as she dives behind the planter box taking a flesh wound.
Simmons having found the documents hidden among the sacks,
with a second sense he seems to have been born with, turns as the squad of Germans are coming up behind him & drops 3 of them, taken his second flesh wound of the day, but nothing that's not all in a days work while serving King & Country.
To no avail Hessler goes over to the basket & sack at the back of the church,
but what hes looking for has already been found & his mission to recover the documents is far from over.
Cut, cries out the director bringing filming to an end.
Designers note, its that long since I played a game of Pulp Alley that I'd nearly forgotten how enjoyable it is even when playing solo, I created two new leagues for the game with most of the models used making their debut.

The game played was The trail of clues from the Pulp Alley rulebook & went a lot smoother for Simmons league then I though it would as the cards & some poor dice rolls played hell on the Germans, that the luck of the draw I guess.

For those of you that not nothing of Pulp Alley here a link to some video's Dave the owner of the game has put. http://pulpalley.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=2033&sid=ac4c6125ff686813a7292c2d76dee338

Once again my thanks to Alan for the lovely paint job he did on the Germans & as always my thanks to you for dropping in & if you'd care to be a move critic your comments would be welcome.

On Location, The church at San Antonio

Welcome, I've been working on a couple of buildings on & off  over the last few months ( 1 of them over a year) & as often the case the last one started is the first one finished.
A church is something that has been on my list to do for a long time as they just fit into so many locations.
The fountain in the middle is still a WIP but I needed something for the square centre.
The church itself was a simple enough build & if I was to guess I'd put the cost at lest then 5 euro.
Over all I'm more then happy wit how it turned out & it's a nice little piece to add to the collection.

An odd little thing about the church is that the door is slightly off centre, you just can't get good builders these days.
Cut, well that's it for this post, as always my thanks for dropping in & if you'd care to leave a comment it would be welcomed, & with that quiet on the set & action.

Chapter 2 Down but not out

       NICKEL & DIME PRODUCTION'S
                  proudly present's
  CONNEMARA FEENEY & TAYLOR DAVIES
                               in
         THE HEART STONE OF AFRICA

The start of this adventure can be found here. http://ifitwasntforone.blogspot.ie/2017/03/connemara-feeney-taylor-davies-prelude.html

Pilot:" Ladies & Gentlemen as I'm sure you are aware we've landed safely but we're a long way from civilisation, we crossed over a river a few miles from here I think we should leave the plane & head for that river, there are luckily enough some tent's & other supplies on-board that where part of the cargo that will be very useful to us over the next few days.
Rising from his seat Marco Boswel:"Hold on there a moment you've just proved yourself as a good pilot but I've a feeling you know jackshit about surviving out in a place like this, the river your talking about is the Shangani which flows into the Zambezi & pitching tents along it's bank would not be something I'd care to do.

Pilot:" As captain for this craft I'm responsible for the well-been of everyone on it I'll not tolerate my command been questioned, it's my duty to get you all back safely to civilisation & I intend to do just that.

Boswel:"While we were in the air sir I was more then happy to do whatever you said, but now we're on the ground things are quite different & what's more...

Taylor:" Gentleman gentlemen please, this bickering is not going to get us anywhere".
Taylor:"If I may ask Mr ?
Boswel:" Marco Boswel tracker & big game hunter at your service sir"

Taylor:"& very welcomed that service will be in this trying situation we find yourselves in wouldn't you agree Captain  Dufour ?

Dufour:"Indeed Sir indeed fortunate it is to have someone of Mr Boswel's knowledge among us in this hour of need, I will of coarse be more then happy to take any of your advice as regards how we should go about getting out of here sir "

Boswel:"Thank you kindly gentlemen, well to start off with what I would suggest is like was the Captain's plan we go through the cargo to find anything that will be of use to us & as there are only a couple of hours of daylight left spend the night in the plane before setting out for the river in the morning"

Taylor turning to Connie " Sorry about all this but don't worry we all get back in one piece"
Connie:"It's fine Taylor I enjoy a bit of adventure & what's more I could do with the overtime" she added jokingly bring a grin to Taylor's face.

What a plucky girl he thought to himself not for the first or last time.

Also on board was a German diplomat Andres Weber & his wife Maud, on their way back to German East Africa.

Having secured provisions & gone over the maps they settled in for the night.

Boswel had informed them  that there was a missionary a couple of days hike down river, this didn't go down to well with the Germans who were not happy about the idea of having to hike in this heat & terrain for the next couple of days.

Taylor:"You ready for this Connie ?"

Connie:"Well it's not exactly the West of Ireland, but yes I'm looking forward to it in a strange kind of way.
Immediately after breakfast they set off.
Dufour:"Time to be going folk's, make sure you have all you need to bring with you as we won't come back for anything you forgot"

Boswel leads the way as the group head for the river.
Cut.
well that's it for this post, as always my thanks for dropping in & if you'd care to be a movie critic your comment would be welcomed.

PA Dark Truths

After a delay for various reasons we got our campaign going again.
It was rumoured that out in a small suburb of Cairo that some strange & old things had been turning up on market day of late.
So our bands of hero's headed out to see if they could find anything to help in their quest, with Penelope stopping off on the way to power her nose.
Mingling in unnoticed with the crowd ( who writhe's this crap?) everyone was very mindful of their P's & Q's.
The PP's were five people spread around the the board, with the major PP not coming into play for either side until they had first completed a minor one.
There was also unknown to the players a special PP who is a guide know as Mad Aziz.
First PP in the bag for Dick's guys.
A bell rings out & down goes our first hero, he must have asked the wrong question.
Yes there all fresh only baked this morning.
So nice of you to join us Penelope, what's that you say you've got the major PP in the bag ?
All that stuff about freshly baked turns out to be a red herring the real deals are made around the back.
But Mummy I don't know where the key's are & besides your to old to be driving.
(Corny you bet it is lol)
Then a high pitched voice call's out "Help Help.
Go on admit it you thought it was Penelope didn't you ?
The Count comes rushing to the cries of his falling friend, this could be bad for our heroine.
Yep she's down & dropped the bag, which is picked up by a chap who just happen's to look like the guy she got it from.
Your wondering at the ?marker right, well like all brave hero's he's hiding, nothing to see here back to the action.
Nice of you to join the show Dick, " just carry on telling the story Frank" replies Dick, but can he save the day ?
Penelope is back on her feet while Dick stare's down the Count, "look I've told you already I don't have any spare blood got it ?" says Dick
Penelope forgets about the bag & rush's to Dick's aid.
The Count is well out for the count, can these two unlikely hero's pull it off ?
No is the answer & so it was that the day out came to an end with the Count's league holding 3 minor PP's including Mad Aziz, while Dicks lot ended up empty handed, but what's this madness ? it seems they've decided to put their difference's aside & head out into the burning desert with Mad Aziz as their guide, madness I tell you madness.

That's a rap for this post, my thanks to Dave & the Doc for taking part & as always my thanks to you for dropping in & if you'd like to leave a comment it would be welcomed.

Prop's Some animals return

Just a quick little update on some of the animals that I got done.

I was happy with the way the gorilla's turned out.

Not so much with the zebra's, fine for back round candy but not great up close.

The hyena's also turned out fine & the animals should make a nice addition to my collection when there all finished.

That's a rap for this post, as always my thanks for dropping in & if you'd like to leave a comment it would be welcomed.
